“Tagged Audio” is a demo version of our creative works that contains distinct audio and/or visual watermarks that typically plays throughout the entire track. The purpose of sound designers tagging their creative works is to prevent piracy and to encourage serious prospects, artists, music directors, and sound designers to aquire an authentic license.
The user licensing the material can download a lossless file in various formats such as a WAV file. Available formats will be notated with the creative works.
Tracked-out stem files are collections that contain track(s) split into several musical elements. Depending on how the creative works were composed tracked out elements could include:
- Percussion stems
- Bassline stems
- Harmony stems
- Lead stems
- Isolated instrumental stems
- Acapella Stems
Tracked out Stems will also include the orginal stereo master of the track for standard playback.
A sales limit states how many copies of the resulting work can be pursuant to the license agreement. Say for example the sales limit is 5,000. That means the buyer can sell up to 5,000 CDs or digital downloads without being in violation of the license agreement. If the buyer sells more units then the licenced sales limit permits, publishing for all units must be split 50/50.
Paid streams limit
A paid streams limit states the number of paid streams of the resulting work that remain royalty-free. This limit applies to paid streams on services like Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube.

Albums, iTunes, Spotify, etc
“Commercial use” defines in how many commercial settings the buyer can sell any resulting work. Typical cases of commercial use might be albums, mixtapes, iTunes sales, Spotify sales, shows, and so on.
If the seller for example leases 2 commercial uses, the buyer can use this to sell the audio on his/her album AND on iTunes. This maxes out the 2 uses and he/she can’t sell this song on any other platforms or settings.
“Unlimited Exclusive commercial use” means the buyer can sell the resulting work in any way he/she wants as long as no other restriction such as max distribution or explicit sync licensing applies.
This split determines how any royalties of the resulting work are divided between the producer (who sells the beat) and the buyer.
If the seller declines a publishing split (marked by the red X), then all royalties of the resulting work remain with the producer. On the other extreme, if the seller allows a publishing split of 100% to the buyer, then all royalties of the resulting work belong to the buyer.
Any copies sold below the stated ‘sales limit’ and any paid streams below the ‘paid streams limit’ are royalty-free. The publishing split only applies to copies/streams above those limits.
License for TV/Movie
“Sync” or “synchronization” licenses refer to when the seller grants the buyer the right to pair the music with audio-visual works (for example films, TV shows, and TV/radio advertisements).
If this applies, the seller has to be credited. This usually happens in the song description or byline like “Instrumental produced by [DenDen Baroque of DenDen Music]”.
This determines how long the agreement is valid. The term’s starting date is the date the license has been purchased.
Exclusive licenses make the purchased track a “Limited work for hire”. In a limited work for hire agreement, the seller (producer)agrees to no longer make the creative work aailable for resale. The producer will still retain the right to use the creative work for demos and marketing. Even in the case of a limited exclusive license deal, all other previously granted licenses remain valid until they expire.
